In the world’s greatest aviation tragedy in a decade, an Air India 747 crashed onto a medical college hostel in Ahmedabad, killing over 260 people. Rescuers searched for missing individuals and aircraft pieces on Friday.

There was just one person left alive when the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 passengers, crashed into the hostel during lunch on its way to Gatwick Airport, south of London.

On the ground, there were also fatalities; according to local media, the number could reach 24. Reuters was unable to confirm the number right away. Authorities reported that they were still looking for missing persons on the ground.

Throughout the night and the early hours of the morning, rescue workers kept searching.
