The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has made an initial assessment that the recent US military strikes on three of Iran’s nuclear sites only caused a few months of delay in Iran’s nuclear program and did not completely destroy its key components.
The private assessment, which is based on a detailed battle damage study by US Central Command, challenges President Donald Trump’s repeated claims that the strikes had “completely obliterated” Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Seven people familiar with the report told CNN that a significant amount of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile survived the strike, and the majority of the centrifuges are still operational.
According to CNN, Iranian authorities appeared to have evacuated areas before the strikes.
