As part of the UK’s nuclear program, personnel observed numerous atomic and hydrogen bomb explosions as well as radioactive experiments in Australia and the South Pacific during the 1950s and 1960s. Veterans assert that the government still hides their medical data and that the testing resulted in serious, lifelong health issues.
The Ministry of Defence has pledged to “thoroughly examine” the available data on medical examinations performed on veterans.
They claim that the MoD’s failure to preserve, release, and keep their records has harmed them and their families and that they are being unlawfully withheld.
