The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has stated that the runways at Lahore airport will be temporarily closed for three hours every day beginning July 1 due to seasonal bird migration.
The runway closure will be in place from July 1 through September 15, 2025, and will be observed every day from 5 to 8 a.m., per a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) published by the authorities.
Because of migratory patterns, bird activity around the airport is usually at its highest in the early morning, when the measure seeks to ensure the safety of aviation operations.
The message said, “This precaution has been taken to avoid potential bird strikes that could endanger flight operations.”
