RAWALPINDI: Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), stated Friday that the Pakistan Army is not interested in engaging in negotiations with political parties, emphasizing that the military should not be involved in political matters.
The DG ISPR said to BBC Urdu that the armed forces only interact with the state, which is established in accordance with the Pakistani Constitution and in collaboration with political parties.
“We address the state of Pakistan, which was established by the Constitution and includes political parties,” he stated. “The state is whichever government is in power at the moment. And it is under that state that the Pakistan Army functions.
