NEW YORK: In the latest media industry concession to a president who has targeted outlets for what he claims is inaccurate or misleading coverage, CBS parent company Paramount on Wednesday resolved a lawsuit brought by US President Donald Trump over an interview broadcast in October.
The $16 million that Paramount agreed to pay to settle the lawsuit would go toward Trump’s prospective presidential library rather than being given to him “directly or indirectly.”
“The settlement does not include a statement of apology or regret,” the company’s statement explained.
In October, Trump launched a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS, claiming the network had falsely manipulated an interview with then-vice president and presidential candidate Kamala Harris that had appeared on its “60 Minutes” news show.
