A bill to halt collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN nuclear watchdog, has received final approval from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, according to state media on Wednesday.
According to state TV, “Masoud Pezeshkian promulgated the law suspending cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency,” indicating that the policy, which was drafted in the wake of last month’s Iran-Israel war, is now in force.
Following an air battle with Israel in which Iran’s old adversary claimed it wished to stop Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon, the Iranian parliament backed a bill to halt cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog.
According to the law, the Supreme National Security Council must approve any upcoming IAEA inspections.
