A father shot his daughter dead when she refused to erase her account on the well-known video-sharing app TikTok, according to Rawalpindi police on Friday.
“The girl was asked to remove her TikTok account by her father. He killed her after she refused, a police spokesperson told AFP.
Investigators said the father killed his 16-year-old daughter on Tuesday “for honor,” according to a police report that was given to AFP. He was then taken into custody.
Police in the attack site, Rawalpindi, which is close to the capital Islamabad, said that the victim’s family first attempted to “portray the murder as a suicide.”
A TikTok influencer who was 17 years old and had hundreds of thousands of online followers was murdered at home last month by a man whose advances she had turned down.
