The Property Tax Amendment Bill 2025, which establishes an incentive system for anyone who report instances of tax evasion, corruption, and bribery, has been passed by the Punjab Assembly’s Standing Committee.
The proposed law would recognize anyone who gives reliable information that results in the discovery of property tax evasion as a “whistleblower” and grant them financial compensation.
The goal of the measure is to reform the province’s tax system, which has long been plagued by underreporting and loopholes, by encouraging public engagement.
The modified law would also provide incentives to Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department officials who detect and combat tax evasion.
