Section 144, which prohibits swimming, boating, and other public activities in dams, rivers, canals, ponds, and lakes until August 20, has been enforced throughout the province by the Punjab government.
Lives have been at danger throughout the province due to landslides, flash flooding, and continuous, intense rainfall.
The Punjab Home Department said in a statement on Thursday that the decision was made to save lives in the face of deteriorating weather and increasing water levels.
Bathing in rainwater that has accumulated in streets, roads, open spaces, and other public areas is also prohibited.
It has also been legally forbidden to boat in dams, rivers, canals, lakes, and distributaries without permission.
