LAHORE: President Dr. Arif Alvi presented a certificate of gratitude to Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority Director General Dr Dur-e-Naz for her tireless efforts in treating blood problem patients, emphasizing the need of community initiatives in preventing thalassemia among youngsters.

The president presented the diplomas during a Sundas Foundation prize distribution ceremony at the Governor’s House in Lahore, where he was the special guest.

The ceremony was attended by Sundas Foundation Director Khalid Abbas Dar, President Yaseen Khan, and well-known journalists Sohail Warraich, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, and Salman Ghani.

President Alvi also spoke during the ceremony, advocating for obligatory pre-marital testing. He further stated that Pakistan was facing a lack of blood donors for thalassemia youngsters, adding that even with significant advertising, could not be overcome.

Dr. Alvi further said that Pakistan has 26.2 million children out of school, while our neighbouring countries, India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, have achieved almost 100% enrollment rates.
