There is currently interruption to several routes between London and the South Coast, and Gatwick Express trains are not operating.
Both Thameslink and Southern Rail informed their patrons at around 4 a.m. on Monday that there was a “major signalling fault” on their networks and that “no trains” would be operating until further notice.
The advice to passengers was to “do not travel”. Some services have restarted by 7am, but all routes between Littlehampton and London Victoria have been cancelled, and Gatwick Express trains are not operating. Up to 3 p.m. is when the disturbance is predicted to end. There are fewer services running between Brighton and Chichester as well as Three Bridges. Travelers on these routes have been advised to postpone their plans until later or factor in “at least” an additional 60 minutes for their trip. Southern has issued a warning that certain stations may have queuing systems in place and that any operating services are anticipated to be “extremely busy.”
