The Treasury Committee’s report on sexism in the City and the financial services business that thrives there detailed a long list of shortcomings, including the “shocking” extent of misogyny, sexual harassment, assault, and bullying, as well as “an era of impunity”.
It also suggested prohibiting the use of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) in sexual harassment cases and enhancing rights for whistleblowers who report sexual harassment.
According to the research, these agreements, which require the victim to pledge to confidentiality, are used to conceal abuse and gender-based discrimination while the offenders go unpunished.
It was stated that the company’s human resources (HR) personnel prioritize the business’s reputation over the welfare of its employees, making the methods for handling complaints insufficient.
