According to Breashears’ business manager Ellen Golbranson, the Massachusetts man was discovered unconscious at his house on Thursday and passed away from natural causes.
“The precise cause of death remains unknown at this time,” she continued.
Breashears was a skilled mountaineer who scaled some of the hardest peaks in the planet. He was a cinematographer for both feature films and documentaries.
As per his official website, he was the first American to reach the summit twice, having delivered the first live television pictures from the top of Everest in 1983.
According to his family, Breashears climbed Mount Everest five times in total.
