Thyroid inflammation:
Thyroid difficulties are among the most prevalent health concerns that people worldwide encounter. A Science Direct article states that 200 million people have a thyroid condition of some kind. These problems are typically classified as thyroiditis in medical terminology.

The term “thyroiditis” describes inflammation of the thyroid gland, which is typically brought on by early-stage swelling.

Thyroxine, also known as tetraiodothyronine, and triiodothyronine, sometimes known as T3, are two highly important hormones whose synthesis is hampered when the thyroid is inflamed or defective.

These hormones are mostly in charge of regulating your body’s metabolism and turning the food you eat into energy for everyday activities.

The following is a list of a few varieties of thyroiditis that people may experience:

Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis: This autoimmune disease occurs when your body’s defense system unintentionally targets the thyroid gland and its cells. The gland is consequently unable to manufacture thyroxin.

Subacute Thyroiditis: Acute thyroiditis is a virally-induced thyroid gland illness. It is an excruciating illness that frequently results in upper respiratory tract infections.

Acute thyroiditis: Distinct from subacute thyroiditis, it is typically caused by an organ-specific bacterial infection that results in thyroid gland inflammation and dysfunction.

Postpartum Thyroiditis: After giving birth, women may experience an inflammation of their thyroid gland, which is also referred to as silent or painless thyroiditis.

Drug-induced Thyroiditis: Certain medications can cause the thyroid gland to become inflamed as a side effect or as a result of the body’s immune system reacting to the medication. These substances include lithium and amiodarone, whereas interferons and cytokines are responsible for the immunological response.

Radiation-induced thyroiditis: Radiation-induced thyroiditis is a painful form of thyroiditis caused by radioactive therapy used to treat head and neck cancer, lymphoma (a general word for cancer of the lymphatic system), and hyperthyroidism (excessive thyroid hormone).
