Actress Molly Ringwald, who previously starred in films such as “Sixteen Candles” and “The Breakfast Club,” has grown up and is now letting her 20-year-old daughter Mathilda take the lead in her first acting role.
Ringwad, 56, gave an explanation of why she was reluctant to let Mathilda follow a profession that was too close to her own in an interview with The Times.
When Mathilda was younger, we would not have allowed her to pursue acting since we preferred that she focus on being a child. On that, she resisted us. Although she’s still a little upset about it, she claimed that her choice was the right one.
Professional acting, in my opinion, is not a very good method for children to grow up. It’s a crapshoot and far too stressful.
