In comparison to a year earlier, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported that average regular pay, excluding bonuses, was 6% in the three months leading up to February.
The data, which included bonuses on the same rolling three-month period, did not change.
While the numbers appear to be encouraging for struggling households, the Bank of England may find them concerning as it considers when to reduce interest rates in the midst of its ongoing fight against inflation.
It has wished for a considerable slowdown in wage growth because of concern that high wages run the risk of driving up demand and, consequently, prices throughout the economy.
