Ismail Yusaf Baz, the chief of the militant group’s coastal sector, was allegedly “eliminated” in an attack in the Ain Ebel area, according to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF).
About seven kilometers north of the Israeli border, it claimed, one of its aircraft had struck the area.
According to the IDF, the commander had plotted rocket and anti-tank missile launches at Israel from Lebanon’s coastal region while holding a number of key official posts within Hezbollah’s military branch.
Hezbollah, backed by Iran, injured three people in a drone attack on Tuesday during an exchange of fire between the Israeli military and the group, according to local reports.
Hezbollah has already claimed to have struck Israel’s Iron Dome air defense installations near Beit Hillel, claiming to have hit direct targets and resulted in crew members being killed or injured.
