Concerns about flight safety and irresponsibility have alarmed US pilots, as seen by the spate of mid-air incidents that have occurred, including multiple United Airlines flights last month and the most recent one involving a Boeing 737 Max 9 in January.
In a message to its members, the Allied Pilots Association stated: “While United Airlines is currently under government and public scrutiny, it could just as easily be American Airlines.”
The organization also exhorted its members to fend off intimidation and report any safety concerns they may come across.
“As the last link in the safety chain, our passengers and crew depend on us to be the strongest link in that chain,” said the statement.
They brought to their members’ notice the alarming patterns of tools left in airplane wheel wells and crashes involving planes being hauled on the ground.
