Erin Patterson, who has been detained in a Melbourne, Australia, prison since her arrest in November of last year, briefly appeared in person in the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court via video link.
Three counts of murder and five counts of attempted murder have been brought against the 49-year-old mother of two children.
During the Monday hearing, Magistrate Tim Walsh stated that he will make an announcement on May 7 regarding Patterson’s committal hearing, either in the same Morwell court or in Melbourne.
A small village called Morwell is located 150 kilometers (90 miles) east of Melbourne, the home of Patterson.
Whether prosecutors have enough evidence to present charges to a jury in a trial at the Supreme Court of Victoria will be decided at the committal hearing.
