ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan forwarded the issue to the Practice and Procedure Committee for reorganization of the bench due to concerns expressed with the six-member bench hearing the military courts case.
The hearing regarding the civilians’ trials in military courts who were involved in the May 9 incidents last year was conducted today by a larger bench consisting of six judges, led by Justice Aminuddin and including Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Musarrat Hilali, and Justice Irfan Saadat Khan.
Khawaja Ahmad Hasan, the attorney for the petitioner, former chief judge Jawad S. Khawaja, objected during the hearing, arguing that a larger bench should be formed in light of the note from Justices Mansoor Ali Shah and Yahya Afridi.
