The petition against the sentence against a person’s second marriage without the wife’s consent was heard by the Additional District and Sessions Judge of Peshawar. After notifying the parties, the punishment was suspended.
A person who was married to another person without authorization last week was given a sentence of three months in jail and a fine of Rs five thousand.
The petition against the family court verdict stated that the sentencing was against Sharia.
“The accused person who received a sentence did not file the complaint herself; rather, her brother filed it,” the accused person’s attorney prayed.
The case hearing was postponed by the court until April 30.
