Jake Sullivan met with Netanyahu in Israel following discussions in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
His participation comes a day after war cabinet minister Benny Gantz threatened to resign if Mr. Netanyahu did not present a post-war plan for Gaza.
Mr Netanyahu has yet to explain a strategy for what follows after the conflict, stating simply that he is focused on “total victory”.
However, there is a growing political division in Israel over the subject, with Mr Gantz and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant saying that Israel should not prolong military dominance over Gaza while have it.
