Transport for London (TfL) has disclosed the unpaid fees and fines incurred by all embassies in the capital.
According to the statistics, the Japanese embassy has the second-greatest debt, at £10.1 million, followed by India’s high commission at £8.6 million.
The embassy of the Republic of Togo in central Africa is at the bottom of the list, with a £40 bill.
Between the introduction of the congestion charge in London in 2003 and the end of last year, diplomats accumulated a total of £143.5 million in unpaid fees and fines across all embassies.
TfL said in a statement: “We and the UK government are clear that the congestion charge is a charge.”
