The objective of this effort is to tackle energy-related issues and offer long-term electricity solutions to households throughout the province.
200,000 homes in Sindh, including 50,000 in Karachi, will be able to purchase full solar systems for the minimum sum of Rs7,000 under this initiative. Every solar system is made to run three LED lights and a fan, giving homes the necessary ventilation and lighting.
6,656 solar systems will be supplied in each district of the province, according to the Sindh director of alternative energy. This represents a significant distribution effort throughout all regions. The project is expected to start as soon as October.
With funding from the World Bank, which has allotted $32 million for the project, there is potential for future growth.
Sindh has demonstrated its commitment to renewable energy sources by producing 400MW of electricity from solar power.
However, the Punjab government has announced plans to give 50,000 homes in the region free solar systems. This project, which is expected to cost Rs. 10 billion, has full funding from the province government and is intended to lower electricity bills for low-consumption homes.
