Washington—The United States State Department has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with Pakistan on counterterrorism-related matters.
Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson for the State Department, stated at a press conference in Washington that the US and Pakistani leaders have been in constant contact regarding counterterrorism matters.
In response to a query concerning the martyrdom of Pakistani soldiers participating in operations along the Afghan border, the spokesperson made the following reply.
“We’re going to continue to discuss regional security in detail including through high level engagements, working level engagements and other extensive bilateral consultations,” he replied to the question.
Following the Pakistan Army’s intelligence-based operations (IBOs) against terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which resulted in the martyrdom of five valiant soldiers, the question was raised.In the first quarter of 2024, the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan recorded at least 92% of all fatalities and 86% of attacks, including those pertaining to terrorism and security forces operations.
