According to Major General Eid Rashed Hamad, the fire began in an apartment complex in the Mangaf city that housed workers. It was reported at about six in the morning (three in the UK).
Sheikh Fahad, the deputy prime minister, accused the building’s owner of starting the fire and claimed that safety lapses seemed to have a role.
“Unfortunately, the greed of real estate owners is what leads to these matters,” he stated.
While visiting the location, he also gave the order to have the owner arrested.
An additional fifteen individuals were reported injured in the incident, which was contained, according to a news agency.
Although numerous individuals were saved, a top police commander stated that “sadly, many deaths occurred as a result of inhaling smoke from the fire.”
He further mentioned that Kuwaiti police are “always alert and warn against” overcrowding dwelling units with employees.
