Since Monday morning, Mr. Slater, a resident of Oswaldtwistle, a town in Lancashire near Blackburn, has vanished in Tenerife.
Since he vanished, there have been internet rumors and conspiracy theories concerning his whereabouts, with people guessing on social media sites like Facebook and TikTok.
However, PH Build, the company that hires Mr. Slater as an apprentice bricklayer, claimed on Sunday that the adolescent had been misquoted online.
On Facebook, the company posted: “Our Jay is still gone!
“In light of all the unfavorable remarks and conspiracy theories, we have chosen to delete our most recent post.
Jay is well-liked by everyone and has been with us since he left school.
The image that is being presented of him is simply untrue. The truth is that the 19-year-old boy goes missing in a distant land. He must return to his rightful home. We are all praying for you, Jay, so hurry up.”
In addition to police and a group of mountain rescuers, the 19-year-old’s family has flown to the Spanish island to assist in the hunt for him.
Nearly £30,000 has been raised for the search costs through a GoFundMe campaign that Mr. Slater’s acquaintance launched.
