According to recently made public records, 1,585 resettlement applications from Afghans with verified ties to special forces were personally denied by a UK Special Forces officer.
According to documents released by the Ministry of Defence in court on Thursday, the unidentified UKSF officer reportedly rejected each and every application that was sent to him during a “sprint” in the summer of 2023.
The officer might have been involved in the ongoing investigation into the SAS’s suspected war crimes, the MoD informed the court.
Following the BBC’s revelation last week that the UKSF officer, who had previously served in Afghanistan, had turned down applications from Afghans who might have seen the alleged crimes, the admission follows.
