During multiple shows at the Worthy Farm festival last week, festivalgoers raised and carried around a tiny boat full of migrant dummies wearing orange life jackets.
Home Secretary James Cleverly said, “There are a bunch of people that are joking and celebrating about criminal actions that cost lives,” in an interview with News earlier this week.
“People pass away in the Channel and in the Mediterranean. This isn’t amusing. It is disgusting. This commemorates the lives lost in the Channel.”
“Stopping the boats” is one of the party’s five key priorities, according to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Mr. Cleverly continued, saying, “I find that to be extremely repulsive. I find it totally disgusting that these horrible individuals are laughing about and celebrating the deaths of children in the Channel.
“To joke about it, to celebrate it at a pop festival when there have been children dying in the Channel, is completely unacceptable.”
