At a meeting with locals on Saturday, Shagufta Nasreen, the councillor for Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) Ward 6 in Karachi DHA Phase VI, stated that a new park area is being created in the Darakshan Villas.
Residents voiced complaints about irregular garbage collection schedules, malfunctioning street lights, water supply and sewerage problems, and the construction of a park on an open space in the middle of their neighborhood, according to a statement.
Nasreen promised that creating the park will be her first priority. In an effort to make the neighborhood more attractive, the councilwoman further stated that she would set up help for the open plot’s upkeep and cleaning.
She informed the locals that in order to expedite the growth of the trees that the residents had planted, the CBC will also set up a greywater bowser once a week. “The DHA and the CBC will assist in managing the self-help cleaning of vacant plots that are overflowing with trash in order to clear the area of debris,” it continued.
Nasreen also pledged to provide the community with water and a suitable mechanism for collecting trash.
Residents also mentioned that traffic bottlenecks and underage driving were a recurring issue for them because there were two schools in the area. Nasreem promised that she will bring up the matter with the traffic police in response to this.
