Following a ruling on Saturday by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, a new California gun law that forbids the concealed carry of firearms in “sensitive places” (such as public libraries, zoos, amusement parks, and places of worship) is once again on hold. Senate Bill 2, the gun control legislation enacted by California Governor Gavin Newsom, was placed on hold for a while last month due to an injunction issued by District Judge Cormac Carney, who declared the law to be illegal and “repugnant to the Second Amendment.” A three-judge panel then decided to postpone Carney’s decision, concluding that the court needed more time to weigh the reasons presented by both sides.
