Today is Pakistan’s 77th anniversary of independence, and the country is commemorating the event with great enthusiasm.
There were ceremonies at the high commission offices overseas as well as across the nation.
A 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals of Pakistan and a 31-gun salute in Islamabad marked the start of the day. Just minutes before the flag-hoisting ceremony at 8 a.m., sirens began to sound at 7:58 a.m.
The country is expressing its thanks and beaming with pride for the freedom it gained on August 14, 1947, as it always does.
