ISLAMABAD As torrential downpours continued to pound different sections of the country from July 1 to August 17, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said in its report released on Sunday that at least 195 people had died and 362 had been wounded in separate rain-related accidents.
The disaster management authorities went into detail about the destruction brought about by the persistent rainy spells, which since the start of the monsoon season have caused a significant loss of life, properties, crops, and cattle.
Seven deaths, including six in Punjab and one in Balochistan, were reported in the 24 hours leading up to Saturday, August 17, 2024, according to the report. With today’s fatality figures, the overall death toll has risen to 195.
