Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar has stated that seniority will be taken into consideration when selecting the nation’s next chief justice, despite ongoing rumors to the contrary.
Rumors of a “extension” of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa’s term through judiciary-centric legislation in parliament have been rampant since the CJP is scheduled to retire in October of this year.
The law minister denied the rumors, saying that “seniority” alone will be used to select the new CJP.
Seniority will be crucial in the selection process for the next Chief Justice. The chief justice will be the most senior judge,” Tarar stated, attempting to reach News.
