At their Kamas, Utah, home in March 2022, Kouri Richins, 34, is charged with killing him by poisoning him with a lethal quantity of fentanyl. Kamas is located around 40 miles southeast of Salt Lake City.
The Utah mother self-published the children’s book Are You with Me? in the months leading up to her arrest in May 2023. The book tells the story of a deceased father who has angel wings and is watching over his little son.
Prosecutors may ultimately use the book to paint Eric Richins’ death as a premeditated murder with a sophisticated cover-up.
It is alleged by the prosecution that she put five times the fatal amount of the synthetic opioid into it.
During a preliminary hearing on Tuesday in Park City, Utah, Ms. Richins filed not guilty pleas to all 11 counts.
Prosecutor Brad Bloodworth accused her of inserting fentanyl into her husband’s sandwich on Valentine’s Day 2022, resulting in a serious but nonfatal response, and as a result, she was charged with attempted murder.
