As part of the ongoing whitelisting process for VPNs, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has registered 20,437 VPN service providers.
19,840 VPNs have been registered in Pakistan by 1286 VPN firms thus far.
Additionally, freelancers have started to register their VPNs. 180 VPNs have been registered by 136 freelancers.
There are 417 VPNs on the Software Houses Association’s (P@SHA) register.
1,422 businesses have registered VPNs with the PTA overall.
Government sources claim that as soon as VPN usage becomes unlawful, the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) would come into effect. The PTA has been registering VPNs and whitelisting them since 2010.
469 mobile apps have been prohibited thus far.
There are 34 Apple apps and 435 Android apps among the prohibited apps.
