A number of other people were hurt, one of whom is critically ill.
The parents and youngsters were reportedly waiting outside the gates of a Tai’an city school when the bus crashed into them.
According to state media, the driver “lost control” of the car and was placed under arrest as police looked into what caused the event. If the occurrence was purposeful, it remains unclear.
Following the bus’s collision with a gathering of parents and kids on the side of the road, Chinese official media announced, “A total of 11 people have died (including six parents and five students).”
Twelve more people are in stable health.
Social media users are sharing photos and videos from the event, which appear to show individuals trapped beneath the car.
This occurs only a few days after the start of the new school year, when pupils went back to class.
In China, fatal traffic accidents happen frequently. Eight people were killed and numerous more were injured when a car collided with a gathering of pedestrians in Changsha, central China, in July of this year, according to police.
