At approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, the little boy, a resident of Lakewood, Washington, was taken out of the tank and declared dead, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, which spoke with FOX 13 Seattle. Around 2:20 p.m. that day, the event was reported to the authorities.
Before the youngster went into a neighbor’s sewage tank, investigators think he was playing with his 4-year-old brother and 6-year-old neighbor. According to reports, the child took off the tank’s lid before plunging in.
His brother hurried inside to notify his grandma, who then dialed 911.
To record the incident, detectives and forensic investigators were dispatched to the location.
An adult was “in and out of the house with them,” according to the authorities.
The tank measured around three feet in diameter and was “similar to the size of a sewer manhole,” according to the News.
When News inquired about further details, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department did not respond right away.
