On Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps, four climbers from Italy and South Korea were found dead after going missing for three days due to bad weather.
The prefecture of Haute-Savoie stated that the climbers passed away from weariness. The two South Koreans were discovered by rescuers close to the Italian climbers.
About 1:30 pm local time, a helicopter from the PGHM mountain police in Annecy arrived at the scene and found the dead about 100 to 200 meters from the top. After that, the bodies were found and the families were informed.
The bodies of the climbers were not found by an Italian rescue team that had previously scaled the peak on foot. Due to low visibility near the top, authorities were notified late on Saturday about three climbing parties that went missing.
