Wildlife authorities have taken over two eateries on Margalla Hills in Islamabad that were previously functioning inside the protected national park region, in response to the recent order by the Supreme Court.
The Monal and LaMontana restaurants have been taken over by the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board, which confirmed this after the district government sealed them in accordance with the court’s ruling.
An IWMB spokesman claims that as human activity has lessened, wildlife has started to recover the region, providing a natural habitat for a variety of animals.
“The future course of action for the restaurants and surrounding areas will be determined in consultation with relevant organizations,” the statement stated.
On September 10, the Supreme Court upheld its earlier ruling to close Monal Restaurant, La Montana, and dismissed review requests.
