The 63-year-old disclosed that her sepsis is now “under control” and that she is receiving treatment for it in a hospital.
Glasgow-born comedian told followers in a social media video that her “cancer is spreading” and that doctors have recommended her “not to work” in order to aid in her recovery.
This autumn, the award-winning Godley was scheduled to start her Why Is She Still Here? UK tour.
“Janey has been living with stage four ovarian cancer for the past few years, and the treatment from the wonderful Scottish NHS has kept the disease at bay, but sadly in the last few months,” her team wrote in a statement on Wednesday.
Her physicians have now advised her to take a long-term leave of absence from work.
Janey is heartbroken to disappoint her countless devoted followers as well as the fantastic places she has performed at numerous times throughout the years.
She wants to express her gratitude to everyone for their love and support at this trying time.
