Thousands of travelers are still having trouble with flight cancellations across the nation, and Southwest is leading the list of airlines most impacted for the second day in a row. However, these interruptions’ origin and extent differ from the airline’s collapse from a year ago.
The airline has canceled almost 700 flights as of Monday afternoon, or around 18% of its schedule. This raised concerns that the terrifying travel weekend would be the beginning of yet another operational disaster for the business.
However, the airline claims that this is not a technological problem, unlike the 10-day service outage that cost the business over a billion dollars and left over 2 million passengers stranded during the 2022 holiday season.
The weather is the issue.
