PESHAWAR: The News said on Tuesday that around 175 Frontier Constabulary (FC) platoons will be made available to help the police ensure security for the next general elections in Islamabad, Karachi, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

FC Commandant Moazzam Jah Ansari declared, “We will provide 125 platoons to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 40 to Islamabad, and 10 platoons to Karachi police for security during the general elections.”

Furthermore, the KP police will also set up the necessary 34,000 extra people for security for the province’s elections on February 8th, which have been severely disrupted by terror-related occurrences.

“Around 34,000 more police are required to ensure proper security for the general elections. In order to provide the extra protection, the government and the police will enlist individuals from numerous other agencies in addition to hiring a sizable number of platoons from FC, a top KP Police officer informed The News.

For the political figures who had received threat alerts in recent days, the KP Police recently boosted protection. According to police officials, all significant political figures and their gatherings were well secured.

In order to guarantee improved security for the party leadership throughout the election campaign, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) recently made contact with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and other pertinent forums. It was instructed that the KP Police provide enhanced protection for the political leaders and their events.

The development occurred when the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) detained two suspected bombers who were allegedly preparing attacks on Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the JUI-F, and Aimal Wali Khan, the provincial president of the Awami National Party (ANP).

A number of KP districts, particularly the southern ones, have seen a decline in peace and order over the past few years due to a spike in attacks on law enforcement, security personnel, and civilians.

In certain regions of the province, the terrorists also attacked political figures and events.

While attempts were being made to strengthen peace and order in the southern regions, senior police officials said that other sections of the province were seeing improvements in the situation.
