Around six o’clock at night, fire and emergency services were called to a complex of apartments in the Clackmannanshire town of Alloa following reports of an explosion.
The explosion claimed the life of one individual who was on the Kellie Place property at the time.
He hasn’t been properly identified; he was declared dead at the site.
Three more residents of the same apartment building were brought to the Forth Valley Royal Infirmary to receive minimal medical attention.
In order to facilitate the multi-agency response, Police Scotland had to declare a major incident and restrict several routes in reaction to the explosion.
“We are still working to establish the full circumstances of what happened at this property, but we can confirm that one male has passed away,” stated Sergeant Neill Drummond.
We are still making efforts to verify his identify and offer his next of kin any assistance they might need.
We appreciate the community’s ongoing cooperation and support of our investigation, he continued, and we’ll release more details soon.
Police provided an update shortly before 11 p.m. on Sunday, saying that although road closures had been lifted, additional gas and electrical work on the building might still be necessary.
