Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar believes the massive explosion near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, which resulted in at least three foreign people killed and seventeen injured, was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) attack.
According to sources who spoke with Geo News, the explosion could be heard throughout the city, including Karimabad, Defence, and Jamshed Road. Television images from the scene showed enormous, thick clouds of smoke rising, along with a raging fire.
Every injured person has been sent to Jinnah Hospital for immediate care.
The Malir Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) verified a massive explosion close to the airport’s traffic signal in a statement.
According to early reports, many vehicles at the scene were engulfed in an oil tanker that blew up.
