Mark Fitzpatrick, Amanda Prusila, and Daniel Gately made bad guesses when attempting to solve the Final Jeopardy puzzle pertaining to brand names during Monday night’s show.
Fitzpatrick had a sizable lead with $23,000 at this stage in the tournament, followed by Gately in second place with $4,200 and Prusila in third place with $600.
The clue was revealed by host Ken Jennings reading aloud, “In 1886, this brand’s bookkeeper came up with its name & flowing script emblem, saying, “The two Cs would look excellent in advertising.”
While Prusila and Fitzpatrick both guessed Coco Chanel, with Prusila gambling $0 and Fitzpatrick wagering $3,400, Gately wagered $0 and guessed Currier.
Fitzpatrick won $20,000 when all three guesses were wrong and Coca-Cola was the right response. The other two kept their entire winnings after making no wagers.
Watchers of the show expressed their disappointment on social media when none of the competitors was able to correctly guess the clue.
