According to News, Tulip Siddiq, the Treasury’s economic secretary, is scheduled to meet with the Unicorn Council, which is made up of businesses including the consumer financing site Zilch and the digital bank Monzo.
Ms. Siddiq will address a conference hosted by the fintech trade association, Innovate Finance, prior to her meeting with the council.
According to sources, delegates were anticipated to bring up topics including the potential hike in capital gains tax in this month’s budget, but ministers would likely sidestep any inquiries about tax policy this close to a significant fiscal event.
In an effort to support the policy requests of significant UK-based internet businesses, the Unicorn Council was established earlier this year.
Charles McManus, CEO of Clearbank, Philip Belamant, CEO of Zilch, and Janine Hirt, CEO of Innovate Finance, co-chair the group.
Executives from GoHenry, Oaknorth, PrimaryBid, Revolut, and Truelayer are among its other members.
In the next few years, it is anticipated that many of the businesses represented on the council will offer their shares for public sale.
