The majority of Sir Steve McQueen’s film Blitz was shot in early 2023, only one year after Russia invaded Ukraine.
“You’d shoot certain scenes where there’s total chaos and pandemonium, and we’re portraying characters in abject fear and horror,” Ronan told reporters prior to the film’s international premiere in London.
“And then you’d leave set, turn on the radio, and you’d hear exactly the same thing, or put on the news and see exactly the same thing.”
“It was the first time I’d ever experienced working on a project where there wasn’t really a way out,” she went on.
I’m not sure if it’s disrespectful to say that I appreciated it, but it really inspired you to finish the painting because it feels so timely.
