KARACHI: During a unique convocation ceremony conducted at Sindh Governor’s House on Thursday, The News reported that the acclaimed Islamic scholar and speaker Dr. Zakir Naik received an honorary doctorate degree (honoris causa) from the University of Karachi.
The governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, who also serves as chancellor of the KU, awarded Dr. Naik an honorary degree. According to a government official, this acknowledgment is a testament to Dr. Naik’s contributions to Islam.
This is the latest development as the well-known preacher, who is now in Pakistan as a state guest, is there at the government’s invitation.
Dr. Naik is scheduled to remain in Pakistan till October 28. Throughout his visit, he will be hosting public events in several cities.
